Born and raised in a rural sea-side town on the East coast of Northern Ireland, I grew up with a love for outdoors and art, curiosity continued into my third level education where I first experienced clay and the huge possibilities and challenges of this versatile material.
I gained a BA in Contemporary Applied Art from Ulster University, Belfast before moving to Thomastown, County Kilkenny, to further my skills and specialism within ceramics. During my time spent in Thomastown, my passion for making and my love of nature strengthened, in 2018 I was selected as an ‘Irish Young Ambassador for Craft’ through the Michelangelo Foundation for Fine Craftsmanship and Design, acknowledging my skills, ambitions and passion.
I am now a trained potter, establishing myself within the great network of makers in Northern Ireland. Natasha Swan Ceramics came to life in 2019 with thanks to the Rural Development Program for supporting my start-up alongside support from my local Enterprise Board. YAY!
